Falling Stars (Falling Stars) by Xio Axelrod - Romance>Contemporary eBook

What if you met the right person at the absolute wrong time?

Meet Val Saunders and Sam Newman, two Hollywood actors at opposite ends of their careers. Hers is skyrocketing while his, well, never really took off. Fate brings them together when they’re cast as lovers on a steamy new television series. The on-screen chemistry between them is off the charts and when it spills over into a real life attraction, they find themselves in a situation.

Sam is an honorable man. He has been faithful to a toxic, Hollywood marriage for nearly half his life. He’s never strayed and isn’t about to start now, despite the fact that he is falling head over heels for his co-star.

Val’s worked hard to get her career on the path to the A-list and the last thing she wants, or needs, is a scandal. If only her heart and her brain were working with the same script.

Romance is an ideal. This is a love story. It explores the possibility of second chances and asks hard questions about duty, fidelity, life in the public eye, and the cost of being happy. Falling Stars is the beginning of a sexy, sensual, and emotional roller-coaster ride that reminds us that love, while not always easy, is always worth it.

He was lost in it, the kiss. Valerie’s tongue was sweet, with the slightest hint of mint. He’d seen her pop one into her mouth five minutes before shooting began, but this sweetness wasn’t that. It was her. She was pliant in his arms and expressing so much yearning that he felt dizzy. He heard soft moaning and realized that more than a little of it was coming from him.

Sam couldn’t think, he could only feel. His hands were in her hair, on her face, the small of her back. Valerie breathed heavy against his mouth and her delicate, floral scent filled his nostrils. Her lips were so much softer and fuller than he’d ever imagined they would be, and so warm. He couldn’t stop himself from nibbling on them, and only gave a cursory thought as to whether or not Finn would have done such a thing. And he was beyond caring. It was too good.

“Cut! Perfect, guys. Just wonderful!”

Roxie, the director of this particular episode, chatted with her assistant director as the rest of the crew prepared for the next shot. The money shot, if you had to call it something.

“Sam, Val honey, we’re going to stay in the window. I’ll have them bring in some heaters, because brrr!” She laughed. Everyone agreed that the room was chilly, but Sam was still on fire. His skin tingled as the fans hit the thin layer of sweat he’d worked up.

Anxiety returned full force as he realized that, once again, he’d gotten completely carried away with the moment. There were thirty-two people in the room and he’d forgotten about all but one of them. He couldn’t even meet her eyes at that moment and excused himself to go for coffee. Decaf.

“Nice work,” Val called out as Sam walked away. She hoped that cool and casual was what he heard, because aroused and freaked out was what she was actual felt.

Holy shit, that kiss was…

“Hot!” Roxie playfully tapped Val on her rear. “Girl! Who knew? The two of you have some serious chemistry. I can’t wait to set up this next shot.” Roxie’s laugh made Val feel a little wary about exactly what they were about to shoot. “You okay, hon?”

“Oh…yeah! I’m fine, just…thinking about the blocking for the next scene.” Val waved away Roxie’s concern.

“About that…Carla said to let you guys do what feels natural. She trusts you, so all of that choreography we went over, just think of it as a guide.”

“Oh?” Shit. “Alright. I think we can make it credible.”

“Credible? Hell, if that kiss is any indication, you have nothing to worry about, hehe. Zee-ro!” Roxie slapped Val’s ass harder this time and wandered off.

Val looked over to Sam. He stood chatting with someone as he sipped his coffee. Six feet, four inches of temptation. He was a revelation. When was the last time she’d been affected by someone that much? She had no idea. Val’s eyes tracked the movement of his Adam’s apple as he swallowed. Her mouth went dry.

“Snap out of it, geez,” she chided herself as he walked over. When he reached her, he handed her a bottle of water. “Thanks.” She smiled up
at him, wondering how he knew.
