Beyond the Surface (The Breakfast Club) by Felice Stevens - Romance>LGBTQ>Gay eBook

On 9/11, firefighter Nick Fletcher’s world changed forever. He's unable to rid himself of survivor’s guilt, made worse by the secret he hides from his family and co-workers. Nick's life is centered around helping burn victims, until he is reunited with the man he’d once loved but pushed away. Now he has a second chance at a love he thought lost forever.

For fashion designer Julian Cornell, appearances mean everything. His love affairs are strictly casual, and the only thing he cares about is making his clothing line a success. A chance encounter with the man he loved long ago has Julian thinking for the first time in years there may be more to life than being seen at the best parties and what designer labels to wear.

When Julian’s world takes an unexpected turn, it's Nick who helps him regain perspective on what matters most in life. Julian, in turn, helps Nick accept who he is and understand he isn’t responsible for tragedies he couldn't prevent. Lost love found can be even sweeter the second time around and after all the years apart, both men learn to look beyond the surface to find the men they are inside.

I enjoyed the characters and the setting, also how it dealt with 911. Both MCs were complex and grew during the story. Julian's new direction for his fashion design was wonderful. My only niggle was that some serious issues (like PTSD) seemed to be resolved a bit too easily.

This was a good read i like stories of pass lovers meeting again and having a second chances at a love they were to young to truly understand and also the strength it took Nick to finally over his hurt and pain and to be true to himself and for Julian to helping him along the way

Ok so I hadn't read any of this authors books before this one so I looked at it and read the blurb several times before I decided to go ahead and buy it. So... I loved this book! The characters were well developed, even the secondary ones, and the story made sense and everything didn't just magically get better, but there was work involved you know? When it was done I immediately looked up the author online and went about reading all her other books! This is a great series!

Wonderful story. This book dealt with several series issues yet still remained light enough to not bring you down but instead kind of inspire you. I look forward to more by this author. Really hoping to read about Zach soon.

My first read by Felice Stevens. For me, she captures my heart - what I lov to read about in a modern romance. As a firefighter's son, I could relate to many of the story's twists. Loved it! Just downloaded my 2nd novel by this author....part 2!

an ok read. The usual angst, problems, missunderstandings and finally acceptance. To tell the truth, jullian's friends sounded more interesting than him.

I LOVED this book. I liked that it was centered around such a tough subject like 9/11 but the author pulled it off beautifully.

An enjoyable low angst read about a firefighter and a "Clothing" designer. The main characters are likeable and it is a good start for a serie.
