Riley Gold is on the run. Her ex-boyfriend has been stalking her for the last year and she can’t get out of Dodge, Oregon fast enough. However, she should have planned her escape better, and maybe she wouldn’t have ended up caught in a rainstorm, in the dead of night with a flat tire. Trapped in the woods and miles away from the next town, Riley sets off on foot to a large cabin home for help and refuge for the night. Is it just her imagination or is someone…or something following her?

With the First Moon Festival on its way and pheromones saturating the air, Theo Kodiak is a sniff away from going feral. As the father of two boys, it doesn’t leave him a lot of time to find a companion to help raise them. Low and behold, fate shines down on him and presents a sensuous woman at his door. Riley is cold, scared and in danger, but she just maybe exactly what he needs in his life. The erotic attraction between them can’t be evaded and soon they are swept under a tidal wave of euphoria.

When a threat from both their past jeopardizes everything that is important, Riley and Theo find themselves united and a force to be reckoned with.

“Take any chair you like.” He frowned, wondering why she didn’t move forward. She was still breathing heavily and swaying a little on her feet.

“I can’t see them. Can you please turn on a light?”

Glancing over his shoulder, he realized that with the exception of the glow coming from the porch light that barely crossed the threshold of his door the house behind him was pitch black. Used to moving around in the dark and low lighting without any problems, it sometimes took him a moment to realize there weren’t lights on.

“One second.” Shutting the door, darkening the interior even more for a moment, he flicked up the light switch on the wall beside it.

When the light came on, he watched her glance around his home. He wondered what she thought as she took in the sight of the large plush area rug over his hardwood floor. Instead of a couch and love seat like some of his friends had in their living room, he had three recliners in a semi-circle before a large flat screen television. The reception in most of Den County was nonexistent, forcing the residents to watch videos for entertainment, especially during the winter months.

“I’m pretty filthy…” she glanced down at herself.

“No worries, they're all leather and can easily be wiped off.”
Keeping a good distance from her, he led the way deeper into the living room. “Please, sit.”

Following him, she got to the sitting area and he watched her glance from one chair to another; one narrow, a medium plush and the last one larger and wider than the other two.

Standing on the other side of the oak wood coffee table before the chairs, he couldn’t help but feel the pride in chest as she went to the middle chair and gingerly sat down. His chair.

“Tell me… Miss…” he allowed that to drag out.

Hoping that she would not only fill in her name, but also that she would not correct him and tell him she was married.

“Riley is fine.” She rested a hand on her chest and took another deep breath. Looking directly at him, her eyes pierced him, intense.

The beating of his heart kicked up another notch. He needed more distance. Stepping back, he leaned against the wall beside his television, balancing on his shoulder. Clearly, he understood what was happening to his body. Since he was a youth, he’d learned to control it and over the last two years, he conquered stifling it. He’d do it again. Especially around this strange woman.

“Okay, Riley, I’m Theo Kodiak, welcome to my home. What brings you way out here in Den County?”

Girl meets bear (in bare man form), girls life sucks - bear likes to suck! Good story. No fancy twists but good earthy characters who endear you to them. A comfortable book for a steamy afternoon delight.

A nice story with added plot. Even though she was a bit dense I liked the Heroine and I even enjoyed the angst filled Hero. A good short read.

it's a very heartwarming story, although it's a short read but it's entertaining..

Definitely fantasy with a touch of realism. Both of the main characters were so stuck in their past that it became a bore to hear them constantly talk about it. The eroticism was ok and its super fantasy because there is no way she would have been able to go that length of time not figuring out hero and kids were shape-shifters.

A delightful shifter story full of good loving and some really steamy togetherness from an author who really has proven she knows how to put it all together. I liked the dynamics between characters, the context characters and the sense of movement forward in the story line. Just a very well-written piece and one that made for some entertaining reading. Paranormal romance lovers will like this one.

This book was too adorable. What really drew me in was the two little boys. They were extremely adorable. The male character was really Alpha male and that was extremly sexy. This book is a must read. I loved it.

Interesting read. My only disappointment was that Theo didn't pursue his woman but planned to settle. I still find enjoyment in this author's works though.

I loved this book but this author has never let me down. I really hope she continues and does a series with the residents of this town.

Loved it! It was interesting how the characters knew each other and how it came about. It goes to show that if you are meant to be with someone it will happen no matter what.

This was a great story. The boys are so sweet and cute. I loved how the towns people welcomed her as a part of their home right away. I love the female lead. She was strong but caring. This was short but complete and full. Loved it.

I'm a little surprised this is a best seller. If you like bear shifters it hits the mark, but the plot is barely there, I think because feelings and happenings are told rather than shown. There is also little build up to or within the sex scenes there is just lots of it. I didn't mind reading it, but it was only worth buying because of the price.

Ms. Hines delivers. This story does not languish. There was chemistry between the H/H. Great read. 4.5 stars

If you'd like a good adult bedtime story then I would suggest this book. Loved how the author named her characters-funny kind of cute.

I enjoyed reading this book as I do all of YH books. This one being a shifter book has to be among my faves by this author especially with reference to the mystical Lore. Add steamy sex, a little mystery and a HOT but gentle(to the heroine) giant and this is a keeper.

Bear's Gold was an enjoyable read with a solid story and characters. I liked the attraction between Theo and Riley from the start, although I do wish things hadn't gotten physical as quickly as they did. I didn't quite believe that would have happened, no matter how strong the attraction. All in all I wouldn't give Bear's Gold an "A" but I do think it was a good book with fun references to bear-related names and stories. Definitely worth reading, especially if you're looking for a cute romance.

Against my better insticts, I purchased this book. Big Mistake. I never really warmed to the main characters and felt the plot was rather predicatable and boring. It was a slow paced and uninspiring read. It lacks the excitement, intensity and tension of erotica.
