About the bookA year ago sexy, small town cowboy Joshua Abrahams gave Kai Nyguen an offer he could refuse; he offered Kai one night—one night of mind blowing sex with no strings attached, one night to use his body to his heart’s content then walk away. But Kai blew him off and left town so fast, Joshua had whiplash. Now Kai wants to take Joshua up on his offer—is he too late?An excerpt from the bookStory Excerpt“You don’t understand—Kai made me think…things. He did things to my body I never understood and there was wildness there that took over…” He took a deep breath and rubbed his eyes. "Can we talk about something else? Please? This makes you upset and tries my patience. I just…" "Why? So you can avoid the conversation for another six months? Joshua, you're thirty-seven years old. I know you don't want to hear this, but you're not getting any younger. I just want to see you happy and settled." "And what about you?" Joshua gritted his teeth. "What about you being settled and happy?" "I'm working on it. I have this man I've had my eyes on. I am planning on making my move when I get back." "A man? Who?" "You're going to laugh." Joshua's interest was piqued. He sat on a stool and pressed his elbow against the counter. "I'm not going to laugh. Just tell me." "It's Michael." Joshua slammed a hand over his mouth to keep his laughter in. His sister was in love with his nerdy best friend. He chuckled. "See? I told you!" "I'm not laughing at you!" Joshua defended. "I'm laughing with you! I swear!" "Oh, bite me. You suck, you know that—and if you say that's what he said I swear…" Joshua laughed. "Well, if you're into Michael you might want to tell him." "And I will…as soon as I get home. I've talked myself into it. I've even gotten him a gift. But you can't tell him!" "I won't. I promise. I know, Cassie, that you worry about me. The truth is I really appreciate it, especially where I came from. But you have to remember that I am slow—I get to things at my own pace. But I will promise you to try—is that okay?" Cassandra went silent for a bit before replying. "Yeah. I know. I can come on a bit strong at times. It’s just—you haven't really smiled since Kai left…and yes I get it." "Anyways, when you coming back?" "I have some more designs to get done. I think about three. So I should be here another week." "I see. Well, I know it's early morning there. Did you sleep yet?" "Yeah. Got a whopping four hours!" Joshua laughed. "That's a lot for you, Cass. I needed to talk to you about something, but I'll wait until you get back." "What? What did you want to talk about?" Joshua groaned. "It's not urgent or anything like that. It’s something we can talk about over a drink and some dinner. I promise." "Okay," Cassandra said slowly. "If you're sure." "I'm sure. Now would you stop being so worried already?" Cassandra laughed. "I'm not! I should go. I want to get a little shopping done today before the task masters call." "Don't overdo it, Cassie. You take care, all right?" "I will. And I love you." "Love you, too. Bring me back something French." Cassandra giggled and he knew precisely what she was thinking. "Don't even think about it!" He chuckled. “If it has a pulse make sure you keep your receipt.” "I do not know to what you are referring, Josh," she lied. "But seriously…I'll talk to you later." Hanging up, Joshua fed Silver then stopped to grab a beer. He then spent the next few hours paying some bills online as well as finishing up some research for a book he wanted to write. He'd be harping on it for years. Taking a breath, he took a long drink from the beer and looked down when Silver stuck his head into Joshua's lap. He looked away from the laptop and scratched behind Silver's ears. "Feeling lonely, my friend?" Silver eyed him almost sadly and Joshua patted his head. "I know how you feel, you know. But us men have to make do with what we have. Come on, let's go up to bed and watch some sports." It was as if that was precisely what Silver wanted to hear. The wolf dog charged out the door ahead of him and up the stairs. |
