Description
In the waning days of World War I, Edward Forebrusher encountered a unicorn on the killing fields of France. It saved his life. But it was more than just a mythical creature—much more. The unicorn was Michael Von Hofstadter, a shapeshifter. And though he was a German, neither he nor Ed could deny the passion that sprang up between them. But Michael disappeared after that one glorious night, and after returning home to rural Michigan, Ed was left to wonder if their encounter had really happened or if it was a case of shell shock, as his doctors claimed.
Now, when the two men meet again, they'll discover if what they have is real or just a fantasy...

Excerpt:
...He gently closed the book; its cover remaining closed this time. But it was too late. The pictures, the separate lines, they were like a spell, bringing that day vividly back to mind. He’d mounted the unicorn, unsure even as did so why he did. He couldn’t deny the unicorn’s desire. And he was sure that had been what the unicorn wanted.
Its stride had been long and smooth. Ed wrapped his legs tightly around the firm, muscled length of its body, clenching his thighs and falling into the easy forward and back rhythm of the movement between his legs.
Leaning forward, he buried his face in the silky white mane, inhaling deeply. The musky scent was underlain with the aroma of pine, poppy, and earth. It filled him, blocking the smells of smoke, blood, and death that surrounded them. He drew in the scent eagerly, greedily.
He was burning up. A light layer of sweat covered his skin beneath his uniform.
He reached out, stroking the unicorn’s corded neck; the short hairs brushed erotically against his palm.
A shudder shook the creature’s powerful frame, finding an echo in Ed. It stretched its neck, whickering.
Ed ached. His arousal was painful, his panting heavy against the unicorn’s neck. He didn’t understand what was happening to him. But he didn’t want it to end. With the heat of the unicorn between his legs feeding his arousal, he felt truly alive. If he was lying in the field and this was nothing more than a fevered dream, he never wanted to wake up.
In unconscious plea, he clenched his legs tighter around the unicorn. It snorted breathlessly before coming to a stop.
Ed lifted his head to look around through dazed eyes. They seemed to be far from the fighting lines. A small house, little more than a hut and obviously long abandoned, stood in front of him. Dusk was deepening around them, but Ed could make out shutters hanging brokenly by glassless windows—a tilting chimney, and incongruously, a sturdy door.
The unicorn snorted, lowering its body and head.
Ed slid off, groaning as his heavy erection rubbed against the broad flank. His newly healed leg buckled under him and he fell awkwardly to the ground. He started to pull himself up, then stopped, his eyes widening in disbelief as he tried to understand what he was seeing.
A shimmering surrounded the unicorn, like the haze rising from the ground on a hot day. The creature reared up on its hind legs, pawing roughly at the air before shrinking in on itself.
The white horn diminished before vanishing entirely. The blue-black hooves lengthened, changed shape, became the fair, well-shaped hands of a man. The white mane receded, thickened, and became a blond tangle of curls. The back legs straightened, became the legs of a man with firm calves and muscled thighs framing a heavy set of balls and a thick, stiff cock.
Ed swallowed, his mouth dry. He couldn’t look away. The deep red cock, weeping from its almost heart-shaped head, filled his vision.
Drawn by an irresistible urge, he leaned forward, touching his tongue to the satiny distended head. The hot, smooth flesh tasted of sweat and salty sweetness, and quivered beneath Ed’s light touch. His own body tightened and shook in response. Sweat beaded on his forehead. The arms balancing him shook with tension, but he couldn’t deny himself. He dragged the flat of his tongue over the flesh again.
Hands gripped his shoulders, pulling him up. Disoriented by the sudden change of position, he swayed unsteadily. Ed had only an instant to see that the face beneath the blond hair had taken on a human aspect before he was pulled close and a warm mouth was pressed firmly against his own.
He’d never been kissed by a man. If he’d had time to think about it, he might have been disgusted, repulsed by the idea. But, presented with the fact, he eagerly submitted. Overwhelming need drove his actions, blotting all thought from his mind...

I rather enjoyed this story. It was different- it does ask you not to question why. There are no answers. Just smile, read, and enjoy. The eroticism more than makes up for it. The ending was quite sweet. The Soldier And The Unicorn
