...He smiled at her. Kat couldn’t help but notice the sparkle in those blue eyes.

“You heard me,” he said. “Turn round and put your hands against the wall.”

Kat blinked. Nobody had ever spoken to her like that before. To her surprise, she didn’t mind it as much as she thought she ought to.

Mike sighed. “Look, as you’ve got the dress on, and don’t get me wrong, but I think women find the dress important, then it would be a shame to take it off before you’ve done the dirty in it at least once. Seeing that—and believe me when I say I’m sorry about it—it looks like you won’t be getting married in it today after all. It also looks like I’m the only man around, unless you plan on going over to the other side any time soon. Plus I think you’re hotter than a boiler with no safety switch and I’d really like to have some fun with you. Serious fun.”

With that, he reached out and laid his finger against Kat’s lips. His skin was rough, but his touch was gentle, in spite of the directness of his words. She swallowed, then turned round and did what he’d asked her to.

“Good,” he said. “That’s nice. Thank you. I’m going to touch you now, but I don’t want you to say anything or make a noise. If you don’t want me to do something, then all you have to do is walk away. I’m not stopping you. But I don’t want to hear any sound. Do you understand?”

She nodded, her heart beating fast and her breath catching in her throat. All the important things, like weddings and guests, the church, the caterers and bloody Brian simply melted away. The only thing that mattered was the feel of her warm skin on the cold bedroom wall and the hitched breathing of the man standing right behind her. How she loved that aftershave of his; she wished she could ask what it was, but she couldn’t.

Without warning, Mike lifted up her dress from behind and placed his hand on her inner thigh. She moved her legs farther apart to allow him access. Something about that simple act empowered her. Damn it, but she was doing what she wanted to do with a man, for what seemed to be the first time in a long time. Far too long. Brian wasn’t the type to enjoy any kind of love-play in the bedroom. She thought she’d grown used to that, but maybe she hadn’t. Mindful of Mike’s command, Kat stifled a small moan.

Slowly, he moved his hand upwards, all the time stroking her skin. He paid particular attention to the tops of her stockings, running his fingers underneath the garter belt.
