Sister Golden Hair Surprise and the Cruiser

Suddenly something ginormous crashed to earth from the tree tops high overhead, snapping limbs and branches until it landed with a hard thud and a shower of dust, twigs, and leaves right at my feet.

Holy freakin' crap!

I screamed at the top of my lungs and fell back on my butt. Squinting into the dark, I just made out a shadowy shape about my size, blocking the trail. No, I belatedly realized. It was actually much, much bigger.

Mountain lion? Bear? Either could've fallen from a tree.

I screamed again.

The thing burst into life and lunged for me. That's when I realized it wasn't a thing at all. Someone—a guy—got right in my face and clamped his hand over my mouth.
