Seven Minutes in Heaven

Marcus’s hand snaked out and pulled Anya protectively against his body. They could both hear the hoots from outside the closet. Obviously the rest of the party thought the noises were because of something else. It amazed her how a room full of grown adults could descend so quickly into the maturity of thirteen year olds.

“Ignore them,” his breathe caused goose bumps to rise on her flesh. “If you aren’t comfortable doing anything, we can just stand here for the next six minutes.”

“Like this?”

“Like this; or, if you would prefer, I could let you go.”
“Do you want to? Let me go that is?”
She knew he had lowered his head because she could feel his warm breath on her cheek. “Not particularly.”
