Description
The Marquis of Lyndhurst is tired of women who are more attracted to his title and money than to his charms. So when his mother requests that he go to the Isle of Wight to court another eligible woman, Ryker decides on a little game … his cousin Robby will pose as him, and he will pose as his cousin—a rake and a gambler. If the woman falls in love with him, it will be for himself. Only then will he reveal who he is.

What the marquis doesn’t expect, however, is someone like Jewelene. Lovely and provocative, intelligent and headstrong, Jewels cares not for status and wealth. Ryker finds her irresistible, and she finds herself falling for the handsome man she believes to be the marquis’ cousin.

But Jewelene is playing a game of her own. In a daring bid to repay her family’s debts, each night she poses as Babette, the French card dealer. When Ryker begins flirting with the sultry Babette, Jewelene realizes she has become her own rival. If she reveals the truth, will her house of cards come tumbling down?

5 Stars!!!! Once again Claudy Conn gives us a romance of two characters that are complete opposites. Jewelene is the strong female character in this story. Her characters as quick, witty, and genius. Ready to ruin her image she earns money to help her family get through their tough spot. We have the Marquis of Lyndhurst, Ryker, who deceives most of the characters throughout the book because he wants to find `true love'. Both character had their faults, but together they pulled through to create a happy ending. Then we finally have the bad guy, who I declare, cannot be named. He was one that would make you wince at his tactics, and shout when he was forced back by Ryker. A sizzling romance that will leave you satisfied can be found on amazon and smashwords.

5 stars!!! Who is Really Who? Rogues, Rakes & Jewels by Claudy Conn Marquis Ryker of Lyndhurst is sent to the Isle of Wight by his mother as she wants him to meet some country chit. He drags his cousin along, the Honorable Oscar Robendale but comes up with the plan to let Robby be him. He believes every woman only wants him for his title and wealth...not that he's not a handsome man...he is. He's intrigued and surprised with the chit he finds at the Henshaw house though. Will his switch backfire on him? Sir James and Jewelene Henshaw have been left orphans and with debts. Papa liked to gamble a bit much. They have a light at the end of the tunnel though, Lightening their race horse. They just have to get his entrance fees to the derby. Thus enters...Babette. Jewels solution. Or Babette could just add more to their troubles. Of course there is Lord Omsbury who will do anything to make Jewel his. Anything! A book full of unique characters as usual. And of course there is always the confusion that lies bring into a story. This isn't a real long book but it's packed with adventure and romance.
Excerpt:
She just had to make it to the head of the stairs. She peered through the darkness as she reached for the railing to help her along, since she had not bothered to light and bring a candle. She was not expecting anyone to be up and about; Stanton and the housekeeper had retired at least an hour ago to their own quarters. Thus, as she reached for the railing she was totally startled and nearly screamed when a voice just before her softly said, “Now … whatever are you doing stealing about at this hour …?”
Jewels steadied herself and managed to answer, hand to chest, “As to that, I can’t be accused of stealing about in my own home … and ’tis only about nine or so … and I might ask, what are you doing walking about in the dark, Ryker?”
He had already spanned the distance between them, his voice low, husky, and hungry as he took her in his arms and whispered, “Thankfully … this …” And with that he bent and kissed her.
Her lips parted for that kiss, his long-awaited, fantasized-about kiss. Kissing Ryker was a notion that had invaded her mind and had taken siege to the city. She threw herself into that kiss, surrendering her tongue to him with abandon. She didn’t think; she only felt.
She lost herself in that moment to him and his all-consuming kiss. He was delicious, and her body tingled with excitement. She forgot all other purposes as she allowed his kiss to turn into another. His hand moved from her waist to cup her breast, and her body burned for more touching, more of him, and she couldn’t feel the floor beneath her feet … and … she had to stop … she had to get away. She was on a mission, she reminded herself. She pushed at his rock-hard, oh so beautifully formed chest. “Sir—you must not …”
“No? Must I not?” he teased while nibbling at her ear.
She broke away and ran from him without a word. Without looking back she went flying into her room and locked the bedroom door. There she leaned back against it and reminded herself to breathe. She had so much yet to do … and all she wanted to do was to climb back into his arms …

Another very enjoyable read by Claudy Conn. Rogues, Rakes & Jewels was a wonderful love story between Jewelene, (Jewels) our heroine and our handsome and gorgeous hero, the Marquis of Lyndhurst, (Ryker). The romance between the two sizzle from the moment they meet. Thanks for another great read, Claudy.

Honestly quite boring, the characters were totally out of their age and the overall plot is pretty childish. The sex scenes are totally bland.
