Remember When

Riding home behind him on the back of his bike, Kris's wet dress plastered itself against Dave's spine and he had a hard time leaning into the corners without grimacing. He'd loaned her his jacket so she wouldn't freeze, and now he was paying the price for being a gentleman.
As they pulled up to her house, Dave gingerly unstuck himself from her and climbed off to walk Kris to the door. She peeled off his jacket and handed it back to him.
"I can see you're a little cold," he joked, noticing her nipples budding prominently through her wet dress.
She was battling tears. "I'm so sorry Dave. I really wanted this to be a special date. I like you a lot, and I feel horrible about what happened."
"Hey, it was great. The fingernail wounds should heal up in a day or two. I just have to be careful." Dave thought a second, remembering that it meant hands off until everything was back to normal.
Kris looked for her house key and then paused before opening the door. She waited, and he realized she was debating whether to kiss him or not. It had been a crazy night, but that was one question that didn't need to be asked.
He reached over and she smiled as she realized a kiss was coming. But as he pulled her small frame closer, her purse swung loose on her arm and thumped him right in the balls.
He whimpered, winced, whimpered again and did his best not to burst into tears of agony.
Kris stifled a sob. "That's it. I've ruined any chance with you, haven't I? You won't ever want to see me again."
"I think we should take a Mulligan on this date and start over tomorrow night. I'll pick you up at seven and we'll go to dinner at this little place I found." Still a gentleman, Dave cupped his balls protectively in his hand as he leaned forward and kissed Kris gently on the lips.
Then he walked away—bowlegged.
His bike ride home was, without a doubt, hell on wheels.
