Excerpt:
Athena noted the apartment was small, uncluttered, barely lived in with only the essential furniture. For a man who had grown up in New York City, he had very little to show for it. There also lingered this sense of power, of equality she didnt understand. He was a human, a mortal after all, and here she was, a goddess. How could he possibly make her feel that he was her equal in any way? What was worse, there were moments when Odin made her feel that he was more powerful.
Odin closed and locked the apartment door. When he turned to face her she could have sworn the color of his gray eyes swirled. Certainly her senses could not lie all day about the color and motion of the mans eyes. He approached her with confidence, quickness, and a sense of purpose hidden under the emotion most clear on his face at the moment, lust.
My Goddess, Odin said as he took her hands. I always imagined you would have a different color hair.
Really? Athena was tired of playing games with him, it was time to show the mortal who was in charge and what his purpose was before he began talking and taking over her brain again. How about this then?
Closing her eyes she tilted her head back, and as she brought her head forward again, the blonde locks had turned brown.
Not quite.
Her eyes narrowed. That little trick should have sent him across the room in fear, yelling witch, or worse. Yet Odin stood there, holding her hands, waiting.
What then do you prefer?
You, my lady. In a slow and easy manner he kneeled, her hands in his. He turned her palms up and kissed the heel of each where they should still be scratched but were in fact healed. A mortal man cannot give you what you seek.
In an instant he got what he wanted.
