“Faster, would be good Michael.” Gabriele raced over the pavement, the oncoming horde of lesser-demons seemed to multiply the closer they got.
Michael latched his arm around Gabriele’s waist and launched into the air. She pointed her shotgun down, picking off as many of the grotesque beings as she could. They landed on the rooftop of the large building with a thud. Michael gently put her down.
“About six down and a butt-load more to go.” Gabriele reloaded her shotgun.
“I’m the bait.” Michael slammed the clip into his pistol
“Says who?” She pouted.
“Me.” Michael leapt off the building straight into the horde of lesser-demons.
“For once I would like to be the bait.” Gabriele spotted the marker of Ayden’s resting place. Every one of those slimy bastards had to be killed. They couldn’t be allowed to disclose where Ayden was. She spotted a particularly nasty sucker oozing his way to Ayden. “Like hell you will get him.” She leapt from the building and landed right on the slimy beast.
Its skin was cold, clammy, and rather slimy, but her legs held a firm grip on its sides. She pulled her shotgun out and aimed for its head at least she hoped it was its head. Two quick shots and the monster turned into a pile of ooze. “Uueee, I hate when they do that.” She wiped the slime off her legs, and then stood guard beside Ayden. She wasn’t worried about Michael; he would take care of all those monsters and come back bragging.
“I see I haven’t missed all the fun,” a deep, but quiet voice said behind her.
“Ryo, napping were you?” Gabriele turned when she heard the sound of a sword being unsheathed. Ryo’s long black hair flowed in the wind, his tall, slender body coiled and ready for anything as his hands tightened on the sword’s hilt. Ryo had pale skin and oriental features which gave him a certain masculine beauty.
“Ever think about using something a little more modern?” Gabriele cocked her shotgun.
“I prefer the up close and personal feeling of my sword.” Ryo couldn’t help but appreciate Gabriele’s strength and beauty. Her small frame, though still very feminine was well toned. Her beauty rare, with her striking blue eyes, and lush full lips, her long brown hair was usually pulled back in a braid.
“What?” Gabriele couldn’t take the intensity of Ryo’s gaze anymore.
“Just admiring your beauty.” He smiled devilishly at her.
“Well stand there so I can admire your beauty for awhile,” Gabriele said as she shot the lesser-demon that was approaching them.
Ryo burst out into laughter. That was one thing he liked about Gabriele she wasn’t shy.
“If you two are done socializing…” Michael placed his pistols back into their holsters that were strapped to his well-muscled thighs. Michael was tall, broad and very muscular. His blonde hair hung to his shoulders, his chiseled face was brutally handsome, and his baby blue eyes danced in the light. Both he and Ryo preferred to wear leather. Gabrielle liked to wear clothes that were comfortable, a half-t-shirt, and black army pants seem to be her favorite.
“Someone better call Asurul. You know a General is loose,” Michael said.
“I called him last time, you do it Ryo,” Gabriele said as she strapped her shotgun to her back.
“Let’s decide the usual way,” Michael added. The other two groaned then held out their fist. With a chorus of rock, paper, scissors the three shook their fists.
“Rock smashes scissors, Ryo,” Gabriele triumphantly exclaimed.
“Scissors cuts paper, Michael, looks like you get to tell Asurul.” Ryo smiled.
Michael muttered some choice swear words under his breath and stomped off to contact Asurul. The other two stood guard at Ayden’s grave just in case there were more of those lesser-demons or worse the General decided to make an appearance.
Michael made sure he had enough distance between him and Ayden he closed his eyes and focused on calling Asurul. When Michael first became what Asurul referred to as his demon hunter, calling Asurul took awhile. Now after these many years it was almost like second nature to him.
“What is wrong?” Asurul’s deep voice boomed in Michael’s ear.
“A General is out. We must move Ayden.” Michael glanced over to Asurul. He was built similar to Ryo, tall with sinewy muscles, his dark hair hung to his shoulders and his dark eyes gave his handsome face a harsh look.
“Are you certain?” Asurul didn’t want to disturb his son. It brought Isa too much pain to see the sadness in Ayden’s eyes.
“We just slaughtered a ton of those lesser-demons.”
“Damn it!”
Michael backed up. Asurul wasn’t someone you wanted to be around when he got pissed off. Sparring with him was a painful experience.
“Take me to him.”
Michael led the way back to Ayden’s resting place. The other two bowed their head’s as Asurul approached.
“Did you kill them all?” Asurul asked Michael. He saw Michael more as the leader of his demon hunters seeing how he had the most experience.
“I am certain. I don’t sense anymore of them.”
“Are any of you injured?” Asurul looked Gabriele over carefully. He was reluctant to train a woman for such an important and dangerous task, but Isa insisted.
“We are alright,” Michael answered.
“Stand back.” Asurul placed his hands together and quietly murmured some ancient words. The ground shook and begun to split open. Though each of the demon hunters had witness this before, they all watched in amazement as Ayden rose out from his resting place.
Ayden was asleep, still Asurul had not the heart to wake him. Ayden’s emotional wounds were still too fresh from yet one more failed attempt at finding his soul mate. Asurul gazed lovingly at his son. The creator was right; Ayden was more beautiful than Prolo the leader of Heaven and his body stronger than Lasax the leader of Hell.
Gabriele couldn’t take her eyes off Ayden. He was perfect looking. His long blonde hair looked like spun silk. She had to restrain herself from reaching for it, aching to run her hands through it. His face flawless and very masculine, she could only imagine what his eyes must look like. Michael had told her that Ayden’s eyes were gold in color. Gabriele felt her body stir at the sight of Ayden’s beautifully masculine body, not to many muscles; perfect was the only word that came to mind.
“Gabriele, go check the perimeter to make sure the General is not lurking.” Asurul knew that whatever General of Hell that had emerged was nowhere near here. He would smell him if he was. He knew the effect his son Ayden had on women and wanted to spare Gabriele the wanting.
“Right away.” Gabriele hurried off wanting to escape what Ayden was doing to her body.
Asurul lovingly caressed Ayden’s cheek. “Isa, put him somewhere safe and warm.” Asurul’s heart ached hearing Isa’s quiet crying. Damn he wished Ayden’s curse would be lifted and that his son could find what he and Isa had. He also wished he could do this alone and spare Isa the pain. But the Creator gave Isa the gift of putting Ayden to sleep. Asurul could only awaken or unearth him so Isa could move him.
Michael and Ryo watched as Ayden disappeared. Immediately the quadrants popped into their heads where Ayden was being placed.
“I want you to find this General and send him back to Hell,” Asurul growled. “I will keep an eye on Ayden until you can get to him.” Asurul then disappeared, he had to comfort Isa.
“Well you heard him. Ummm, let’s give Gabriele a minute to…ease her want.” Michael tried to put that as delicately as he could. Gabriele would most certainly be pleasuring herself about now; she always did whenever she looked upon Ayden. Michael couldn’t help but feel sorry for Ayden. To never know if a woman loved you or just because you were perfect looking must be a real bitch. Michael heard the last woman who loved Ayden went mad with jealousy and though Ayden tried to love her and help her, he couldn’t stop her from killing herself. Michael saw Gabriele heading back over to them. His resolve to never love another woman again was stronger than ever. Isa had told him that his soul would be free if he found his soul mate. Michael scoffed at her. He did find what he thought was his soul mate when he was still a mortal, but she betrayed him. He will never leave himself open for that kind of pain again. Even to free his soul.
