“So you’re finally awake.”

Surprised at first to hear an unfamiliar male voice in her bedchamber, she rolled over. “Romulus?” The male Aurelonian looked almost exactly like her mate, but there was something about him that set him apart. There. It was the ring that dangled from his right nipple—a ring exactly like the one she’d noticed that Romulus wore in his left nipple. Unlike Romulus, he wore no other jewelry except a thick cock ring that encircled his cock and—she gulped—apparently unaltered testicles. “You aren’t my Master.”

“I am Antonio. Like you, I am our Master’s bed slave and life companion. He will join us soon. If you will rouse yourself, I will prepare you for him.”

Life companion? Garnet barely managed to suppress a scream of rage. No one but her would share her Master’s bed. Ever. “What is this, some perverse alien custom? I will share my bed with no one but my Master, Romulus.”

“You will share my bed with whomever I choose.” Garnet’s mate strode into the room, a scowl marring his handsome face as he sat on the edge of the huge bed. “I command now that you share it with me and my life companion.”

Garnet gave Romulus a haughty look. “I will never give myself to anyone but you.”

Romulus’ lips curled up in a smile that was anything but pleasant. “In a manner of speaking, you will be giving yourself to me, for Antonio has been modified in my image to serve my pleasure.”

“No.” The smug grin on her Master’s face made Garnet want to throw something at him. But she couldn’t believe it. Everybody on Obsidion knew cloning was punishable by death. “He can’t be. Cloning is illegal.”

Romulus scorched her with his stormy gaze. “Antonio is not my clone. He’s my body slave and my life companion. He has been with me since I was a boy on Aurelion. All Aurelonian boys of the ruling class are given a life companion as soon as they attain puberty.”

“If he is not a clone, how can he look so much like you?” Garnet shifted her gaze from her mate to his near double who had sat beside him and was looking at her as though he’d never seen a naked woman before.

“When an Aurelonian boy is approaching puberty, his father searches out a slave who resembles his son, buys him and has him modified in mind and body to as closely match the boy as possible.” Romulus lowered his head and licked Antonio’s ringed nipple.

When he did, Garnet noticed her mate’s cock stiffening, as if the contact gave him pleasure. My mate is only supposed to kiss me that way, damn it. And he’s only supposed to get hard for me. “Are you telling me that if I have a child, it might belong to a slave?” she spat out. “It’s obvious your life mate is not a eunuch.”

Antonio’s laugh made Garnet want to scream.

“Well?” she prodded.

Romulus laid a hand on her stomach, as though to calm her. “You’re right. Antonio is no eunuch. When you conceive, however, have no doubt the child will be mine. My life mate was sterilized. Slaves do not procreate. Calm down now. I’m tired of your disobedience.”

“You can’t make me.” Garnet snatched up the coverlet and wrapped it around her body.

“Since you insist on being stubborn, I will show you how I can.” With a smooth, casual motion Romulus snatched away the covers and pinned her to the bed. “Antonio, I believe our mate needs to be taught a lesson. Prepare the fucking platform and then join us on the bed.”

“Our mate?”
