Description
The sequel to Amber Allure’s Best Seller Driven To Distraction... When Benaiah Day attends a conference in New York City, he asks Jess Leonard to break out of his comfortable rut and come along. After all, they are...well, something. Through the months, their mutual attraction has held strong across the distance between their races, classes, and cultures. Yet it stings when Jess says no, even if Ben was expecting it, and leaves him wondering if he’s making a mistake investing himself in the relationship. Worse, being in New York means he’ll spend days fending off Andrew, his ex. It seems no one but Ben thinks he’s serious about Jess.
Jess thinks he’s fine until Ben is actually gone, and then he’s left with an empty spot in his life where Ben belongs. It’s convenient to have Ben around, and just as convenient when Ben fades back into his own world, but Ben being hundreds of miles away is something else altogether. Jess’s friends and family push him to face up to how he’s been treating Ben as a temporary lover instead of the partner he could be.
When Jess makes the trip after all, he has his first moment of real peace in years. In his small home town, everyone knows his business, but in New York, he’s just Jess, someone who might be good enough to be at Ben’s side even in a room full of professors and scholars.
Ben is thrilled that his lover followed him to New York, but he also knows he’s as much to blame as Jess for the uncertainty between them. Jess’s life is due for a major overhaul, and Ben has to get up the nerve to rock the boat or risk their relationship ending up like the Titanic.
Soon, both men realize that getting to New York and back is easy; it’s the distance between their lives that’s keeping them apart.

Excerpt:
...“I missed you.” Those three words were the best thing Ben had ever heard. He felt like his heart was going to come right out of his chest. When he failed to get his keycard back in his pocket, he threw it toward the dresser instead, anything to get his hands free so he could get them on Jess. Jess. Everything about Jess was amazing, all that muscle and prettiness and sweetness and intelligence all in one place.
“I missed you, too.” He kissed Jess again, fast and sweet, before a wave of guilt hit him and he pulled back to see Jess’s face again. “About Andrew, Jess, I’m sorry, I didn’t, I never.” His words got all tangled up in his tongue. “I would never, Jess. There’s only you.”
“I know.” There was a little tightness around Jess’s eyes, but he grinned and said, “I figure Andrew wouldn’t’ve been so hot to trot about getting into my pants if he’d just been getting into yours.”
“My pants are private property.” Ben pulled Jess into his arms and kissed him again, taking a moment to get rid of the bag Jess was carrying. He wanted to ease that tension and kiss Jess until neither of them could remember anyone else existed. “And so, I hope, are yours. Because I know I can’t have all of you, but what I can have, I’d like to have to myself.”
“That’s not going to be a problem at all.” The noise Jess made when Ben kissed him sounded like a cat purring. “Not a bit.” His hands seemed to be everywhere at once, all over Ben’s chest and then down to the fly of his pants and around to his ass and up his back.
God, Jess drove him crazy. Every minute of the day. Ben didn’t have any questions about how Jess felt about them, not anymore. Which left him with one last, nagging question.
“Why are your clothes still on?”
They were only a few feet from the bed, close enough that Ben could pick Jess up just a little and dump him on his ass in the middle of that softness. When Jess hit the bed, Ben stopped to pull his own shirt off over his head and skin out of his pants and briefs. That took care of his part of things.
“’Cause you haven’t got me out of them yet.” Jess laughed and wriggled on the bed, dragging his shirt over his head and then tossing it aside. He got his hands on the waist of his jeans, working his fly open, and looked up at Ben. “This what you want?”
“All of you. Everything.” Ben was about to say more and then he stopped dead, hands on his hips. “There’d better be some lube in your bag, because I sure as hell didn’t bring any.” He hadn’t been planning on having sex this trip, and that was totally Jess’s fault, that he couldn’t imagine being with anyone else, even for one night.
Jess laughed, and laughed some more, until he was red in the face and just about rolling around on the bed. “More than just lube,” he gasped, struggling to catch his breath again. “Had to check the damn bag ’cause they weren’t gonna let me on the plane with it.”
Ben stared at him a moment before things clicked and he started to laugh as well. That sleek metal dildo Jess kept in his dresser. Jess must’ve brought it with him. Ben grabbed the bag and threw it on the foot of the bed, then crawled up over Jess to kiss him and kiss him until they couldn’t breathe for laughing between the kisses. Just touching Jess made him giddy, and knowing Jess, knowing how much Jess had changed since they met, all went right to his head so that it was spinning with how crazy-amazing and perfect Jess was.
Slowly, the laughter faded and the kisses grew more heated. Jess arched beneath him, denim grating on Ben’s bare skin, and then the bed was shifting and Ben was on his back, staring up at Jess’s sly smile.
“Gotta get outta these jeans.” Jess’s words didn’t match up with his actions, though. He kissed his way down Ben’s chest and belly until he was on his knees on the floor, lapping at Ben’s cock and making happy sounds. “In a minute...”
