Enemy Mine

"Come on in and have a seat. I have a taste of Irish chocolate made, just the way my mother used to make it. We can...discuss how to fix this to your satisfaction." He grinned at her as if he'd just won the ultimate prize. The hair on the back of Livia's neck prickled. He was definitely up to something. And, my oh my, that grin was positively wicked!

She backed away from him, not knowing what to do. If she stayed, what kind of trouble would she land herself in? More than she could safely get out of, that's for sure. Despite her better judgment, she sat. Her mind was screaming at her to bolt, but her traitorous body simply would not listen. The leather couch was so soft, it molded around her body like a glove. He certainly had good taste. She was so distracted, she didn't realize he'd sat right next to her until his thigh brushed hers. Startled, she looked up at him sharply. Liam simply grinned at her over the cup of hot chocolate in his hand.

Livia took the mug automatically. She didn't really want the stuff. She wanted to get the hell out before she did something she knew she'd regret. Like shove him down on that sinfully soft couch and eat him alive. Instead, she brought the mug to her lips and sipped delicately. She wouldn't put it past him to put something completely horrible in it. One sip, however, and she groaned, her eyes practically crossing. Chocolate had never tasted so good! A thick layer of whipped cream rested on top with some kind of chocolate sauce drizzled over the top of it. The liquid was pleasantly warm and tasted as if it was laced lightly with caramel.

Immediately, she forgot her irritation with Liam. This stuff was a woman's greatest wet dream. Well, besides the sinfully handsome man sitting beside her right now. When she groaned, he sat back, his arm around her shoulder, and pulled her body against his slightly. It wasn't much, but it was enough to put her senses on high alert. What was he playing at?

She stiffened. "Just what do you think you're doing?"

His own cup was to his lips and he took a shallow pull, careful of the hot liquid. "Nothing. I'm sitting here, sharing a cup of my mother's secret recipe hot chocolate with a beautiful woman. You say that as if I were doing something horrible."

"Your arm is around me." She tried to sound accusing, but, in truth, not only was it pleasant to sit there with him in front of the glowing fireplace, but she was being drawn back to that cup of deliciousness.

"Does it hurt?" He raised an eyebrow, his lip twitching in mischief.

"Oh, just shut up and let me enjoy this."
