Description
As a fire fighter, Justin has learned the hard way that bad things always seem to come in threes and the sudden turn of events in his life are no different. First, major budget cuts to the fire department force him to take a part-time job as a medic and his new partner hates not just him, but all men in general. Next, his rig gets stolen by some drunken bum named Indian Jack, who then crashes it into the local Planetarium. Then finally, some punk named Clayton shows up starts to stir up all kinds of trouble. Young and way too damn good looking for his own good, Clayton has come to Flint to claim back his first love, Dylan. There is just one problem with that, Dylan is already in a committed relationship with Justin's best friend, Kaleb. Since Justin loves Kaleb like a brother, he intervenes by coldly telling Clayton to leave Flint and never come back. To his annoyance, not only does the younger man refuse to leave, but he somehow manages to get a job at one of the local hospitals. So now not only does Justin have to face that problem three is not going away, but he has to see him every day--all the while fighting the growing attraction between them.
Then Justin learns that everything about Clayton may not be as it seem. The younger man harbors a past and secrets from which he's never healed from. Despite himself, Justin draws closer to Clayton and knows that nothing will stop him from tying to protect the troubled man. Will Justin be able to help him become whole, or will Clayton be lost to him forever?

Excerpt:
“Make sure you mop the rig out properly this time. Last call you left streaks all over the floor,” Hester nagged.Justin lowered the cot from the back of the rig. “Yes, dear,” he replied in a dull voice.
“And don’t forget to fill the run sheet out completely this time,” Hester continued to peck as she zipped her uniform jacket up to her chin. As usual, she didn’t hold one piece of equipment in her hands, leaving all the work for Justin.
“I thought you were supposed to fill it out,” Justin objected. It was common practice that one partner cleaned up while the other did the paperwork.
“My sister is working today and I need to talk to her.”
Justin had to work hard not to grimace. The only one worse than Hester had to be her RN sister, Gladys. How either one of them ended up in the health care field was a mystery since neither one of them had a caring bone in their body.
His only saving grace in all this was that their patient was some kid who’d just had too much to drink and passed out at the local mall. A girl who didn’t look a day over fifteen, she’d slept the entire ride to the hospital and didn’t show any signs of waking up soon. The only time Justin had roused her, she had given him a look of pure venom before calling him a faux doc. She’d then rolled over and went back to sleep. After that encounter, Justin had been content to leave her that way.
He started to wheel the patient in, all the while ignoring Hester’s badgering. She may have been complaining about his job performance again, but he couldn’t be for sure. In the two weeks he’d had to suffer through with her as a partner, he’d perfected the art of selective hearing.
As they rounded the corner, his stomach dropped when he spotted Clayton deep in conversation with the new medic, Forrest. Clayton had on a pair of dark blue scrubs with a black hoodie and he’d never looked cuter. That was until he gave the new medic a shy, yet flirtatious smile. Good ‘ol Forrest seemed to be eating it up, too. He even leaned in closer and briefly touched Clayton’s hand.
A red hot rage filled Justin. How dare that asshole even look at Clayton let alone touch him! Clayton was his and nobody else should be on the receiving end of the twerp’s sweet smiles. Especially someone as hot and available as Forrest. What Justin needed to do was to make sure that jerk knew who Clayton belonged to. Hell, maybe it was time Justin showed Clayton that very same thing.
“Take the patient to her room,” he ordered Hester, never taking his glare off Clayton. Hester started to protest, but Justin ignored her. He made a direct beeline over to Clayton. Once he got there, he didn’t even bother with greetings, he just grabbed Clayton by the hand and started to drag him down the hall.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Clayton demanded.
“We need to have a talk,” Justin didn’t even look back as he made his announcement.
“Now?”
Justin found an empty staff changing room, ducked inside and shut the door behind them, making sure it was locked. Slamming Clayton’s back against the wall, Justin pressed their bodies close together so there was no way the other man could miss his erection. “Yes, now and we’re not leaving here until at least one of us comes.”
