Description
Tyne Sweeten found herself on the wrong side of the boss's desk being fired just before Christmas. With no other choice, she went home with her meager desk possessions and no clue of what to do next. Ronan Tate was known for being a shark of a businessman and a rogue with the cream of New York socialites. Now he was at her apartment apologizing for firing her and making an offer she would be crazy to refuse. Spend Christmas with him in his mansion, a new job, and it seemed, a new life. Tyne jumped at the chance, and now instead of the man who was known for being a heart breaker, she found she was with a father who put his son first and lived with rumors swirling around him. Christmas turned out to be more than she expected, especially when they couldn't deny the attraction between them. Ronan was not the scoundrel with a trail of hearts in his wake, but that didn't mean hers wouldn't be broken even though she tried not to fall in love.

Excerpt:
She was many things, thrilled, excited and totally floored to be living there. This was going to be her space and she even had a window seat and small office area in her room. She unpacked her meager belongings quickly and headed down the hall to Peter’s room. She knocked, and Ronan’s voice answered and told her to come in. The boy was in his racing car bed and the room was bathed in blue with little yellow stars on the ceiling that came from the nightlight on the table next to his bed.

“Well, you look all tucked in and comfy,” she commented.

‘I have a really warm blanket so me and Pirate Bear can be warm,” Peter said solemnly.

“That’s a good thing, especially if it’s snowing outside,” Tyne replied.

“Do you want to sled with me tomorrow before we make the cookies?” he asked.

“Sure. I’ve got a few things to do for you daddy first but after that, we can go play in the snow.” She loved Peter’s affection and innocence. “We’ll get warm by baking the rest of the day.”

He held out his small hand. “Shake on it?”

Tyne took his hand and gave it a small shake before tickling him under his arm pit. “It’s a deal.”

“Remember a hand shake is a knot agreement for parties,” Peter said. “So you can’t back out.”

“Um, okay,” she laughed.

“He means a binding agreement between two parties,” Ronan explained.

“You’ve been teaching him I see,” she said, amused.

“Little boys have very big ears,” he replied.

“I’ll see you downstairs. Sweet dreams, Peter.” Tyne went through the door and closed it quietly.

Downstairs in the family room she glided her fingers over the books and chose a few titles she would like to read when she got settled in. She pulled one of the newest novels from a fiction writer she loved.. It would be her companion in the tub after she concluded her talk with Ronan. She was sitting on the settee flipping through the first few pages of the hardcover book when he strode in. He carried something in his hand and handed it to her when he stood by her chair.

“What’s this?” she asked before taking it.

“Your new tablet. It has my schedule in it and all the numbers and information about the party,” Ronan explained.

“Your house is wired for wi-fi?” Tyne asked, excited to play with her new toy.

“We have three separate IP addresses and wi-fi connections. All three and the passwords are programmed into the tablet.”

She glided her fingers over the touch screen and grinned. “There was nothing like this is the secretary pool at your firm.”

He smiled in return. “We keep the cool stuff for the private assistants.”

“May I ask you a question?

He sat down across from her in a chair with a tall back and he crossed his leg. To Tyne he definitely looked like the Lord of the Manor in one of those old historical romances she used to read.

“Ask away,” he said.

She took a deep breath and released it slowly. “So I know you hired me for your assistant and to be a friend for Peter. But I get these looks from you and I makes me wonder if you want more. I mean I could be wrong and for that I will apologize right now for making an assumption.” Tyne gave a nervous laugh. “I mean, why would you want a woman like me who grew up in Brooklyn and worked as a secretary when you probably have a gazillion socialites lined up for your beck and call?”

“Are you done?” His voice was very calm.

“I guess,” she shrugged. “I was wondering, that’s all I mean…”

“You mean after you basically told me straight out no hanky panky or you wouldn’t take the job.” He laced his fingers together and tapped them on his chin. “And now you think I’m probably making a move on you?”

“Well, when you put it that way…” she mumbled.

“When I put it that way…” He stood and strode over to her and dragged her up off the chair by her shoulders.

His green eyes met hers and her first thought was that Ronan was about to throw her out of his house for insulting him. She was surprised when he ground his mouth to hers hard and made her lips tingle with his kiss. He gentled his lips on her and whispered, “Open up, let me taste you.”

Her surprise gave way to lust, and she opened her mouth willingly beneath his. His tongue slid between her lips and Tyne was lost in the sensation and drowned as he deepened the kiss. Lord, but the man could do things with his mouth that shouldn’t be possible. He molded her body to his and she could feel his cock hardened against her stomach. He lifted his head and went back for another kiss and a gentle nip of her bottom lip before stepping away from her.

Dahlia Rose never disappoints. I liked that the Hero showed his true self quickly rather than being an ass for 3/4 of the book.
