Brides of Serendipity By Sarah Richmond
Three stories of courage as three women find love and purpose in a place called Ragtown.
Dory had promised her pa she would get her ma over the mountains and into California. And nothing, not even Harley Jacobs and his amazing kisses, was going to stop her.
Lena decided that Henry Barrett had a look about him that was satisfying. His eyes were the deep blue of a summer storm in a face that was weathered and scarred. His thick mustache showed a slight sprinkling of gray. His dark beard claimed the lower half of his face and needed trimming. He was a man, to Lena's way of thinking, who needed looking after.
Rosy thought Sheriff Kincaid was no gentleman. He was blunt and uncouth, and formed a first impression before she'd even had a chance to introduce herself. He thought she was too fragile a Southern flower. An impression she intended to prove wrong. Customer Ratings: (All Time) OVERALL ENJOYMENT Not rated SENSUALITY Not rated Based on 0 reviews

Lena gave her reins a shake and started off. They didnt take long to catch up with Henry.
Im coming with you, she said, as she drew along side of him.
He shook his head. I cant let you.
Why not? She deserved more of an answer after saving his life. I can ride. You know I can.
Therell be shooting.
Two against five is better odds in my books.
I cant let you come along. I dont want to be responsible for you getting hurt.
You cant let me but you cant stop me.
Henrys face bunched up into a frightful scowl. Time he found out that all women didnt break at the slightest bit of discomfort.
Lena leaned over and grabbed the bridle of his horse. The mare stepped back but Lena held on firmly. All her life she played the hand she was dealt. But not this time.
Henry Barrett was going to listen.
Im not a wrangler and Im not accustomed to sitting a horse but Im capable, you said so yourself. Im a hard worker and did a fair job patching you up. Seems to me out here where the land needs taming and the laws neglectful, a woman like myself would be useful.
She let his horse go having said her piece. What shed told him struck at the core of the matter. He could depend on her.
Lena, he said, using her given name for the first time. Youre the peskiest woman I ever did come across.
She knew he spoke honestly and from the heart. Her eyes stung with tears. It was the nicest compliment shed ever received.
He smiled, by Lord in Heaven, he did. She was smiling too.
I suppose if I dont let you come along, youll just follow me anyway.
Im glad were beginning to understand each other.
His mouth twitched. His blue eyes held her like an embrace.
